Play + School for every child: recovery of children and the city
Children’s anarchic, spontaneous, and unregulated play is the apparatus for their new city. The new city is their school and their playground. The bomb-damaged site will be recovered through play and converted into their school. The site becomes their stage and they humanize their environment and manipulate/reconfigure the shattered cityscape through a new pattern.
The program is located in ard al-Hamra, Aleppo, Syria. On Feb 22, 2013, the Syrian government, Assad, dropped ballistic missiles on the middle of residential area in the northern city of Aleppo, ard al-Hamra. At least 37 people died, the half is children.
